Planning Your Home Office Network - Learn What You Need To Know Before You Take The Plunge

If you have setup your home office for the first time, whether it is working out of your spare room, the shed or your bedroom, then you may come to a time when you need to conclude whether you take the plunge and create your very own home based network. If you have decided with this brave choice then you really need to sit down and spend a bit of time mental about where everything has got to go.

If you are using the wired network approach, then you need to think all of the cables and where they will all go. Will you need to drill holes straight through our living room wall? These are all questions you need to ask yourself before you get stuck in. Keep cable clutter to a minimum, it can be dangerous and not very pleasing on the eye. To get colse to this you can make the length between your various hardware appliances as short as possible. Also remember that you need to associate your router to your broadband phone socket, you need to have this in your layout plans when inspecting your new home network.

Wireless Printer Setup

With the wireless network choice you have much more flexibility. The only cable you will really need is the one which connects the wireless router to your phone socket. But do not think you don't have to think about the layout of your office. You still need to think where your router goes as this can affect the signal strength. For best results keep it away from any metal objects such as radiators or your filing cabinet as this is a common cause of producing a bad signal. If you want to work from your orchad the for best results put the router on a windowsill.

By far in this modern age it is more and more beloved to create networks which are wireless, it means anyone can work from their living room but print something of their printer in the attic. But wired networks still have their place, for example if you only have two Pc's in your network which you use just for writing correspondence and letters with your colleague, then the need for all the wireless technology becomes a bit hard to justify. Remember you must do what is best for you company not necessarily what you like personally, if you like all the gadgets but you know deep down that it will not really benefit your company in any direct way and it is not cost effective, then do not do it. You are the man behind your company so only you know what is right to make is successful.
