Linksys E2000 reveal

There are three different Linksys E series routers, the E1000, E2000, and E3000. The E2000 is the mid range router. The E1000 will give you the bare bones of whats valuable for a router and will decently get the job done, while the E2000 will give you that plus a few extra's you might want such as extended range (we'll get into specifics here very soon). The E3000 will give you the top of the line router with all the bells and whistles (the retell can be found on our site).

In this linksys E2000 retell let's take a look at what the technical specifications for the router to make sure all things is compatible with your system. It comes with the following wireless signals: 802.11n, 802.11g, 802.11b, 802.3, and 802.3u. You'll want to make sure your wireless card is compatible with one of these signals, there's a 99% occasion it is but it's best to be safe. The router has the following ports: Power, Internet, and Ethernet (1-4). This is a pretty accepted setup and all things checks out for the basics of the system.

Wireless Printer Setup

Is the E2000 the router that will work best for you? Let's go into detail of the pro's and con's of the principles and what you can expect out of it.

One of the big pro's of this principles that steps it up a notch from it's predecessor the E1000 is it's increased range output. The E1000 worked fine for a family home but if you stretched out to the shed or out in the car you would have some speed and connection problems. The E2000 uses the Mimo principles to increase bandwidth and range without using additional power. How's that for a pro. an additional one fancy highlight is the dual band principles that let's you operate on different frequencies (2.4 Hz and 5 Hz) to avoid interference with any other electronics in the house. This can be a great highlight if you have wireless phones running on the same channel or live in an apartment complicated that has multiple routers streaming about. Security comes accepted on all E series routers but it is good to mention how great it is. There is the quality to create any different channels each with varying levels of entrance quality and time limits. You can set up a childs network that only lets them surf on inevitable parts of the web and limits their whole of daily internet use as well to keep them from wasting hours aimlessly on the internet. Then the administrator network can be setup as well with a detach password that has free entrance to anything.

The premise is a breeze on the E series routers. There is an easy premise that will run you through all things you need to do to setup it. setup time comes to about 5 minutes if you're fairly familiar with computers. Lastly, the final upgrade from the E1000 gives the E2000 4 gigabit ports that allow up to 4 direct wired connections.

One of the only cons we could find is there are no Usb ports. Usb ports would allow for a printer hookup at the router spot, which would enable you to send print signals to the router which would then tell the printer to print, essentially a rigged up wireless printer. It would also allow you to entrance files from a flash drive wirelessly when plugged into the Usb port.

With the high whole of pro's and almost negligible con's we found this router to be a great deal for the price. It's not the bare bones minimum and not so loaded with features you don't even know what they are, it's a great mid range reliable router that will fill the needs of any home.

Computer Issues? Guide to seeing Local Computer heal

Can my computer be fixed at my home/office or do I need to take it to a heal shop?

Depends on the nature of the problem.

Wireless Printer Setup

Most mechanical issues are in fact handled by on-site repair. printer hookups or problems, wireless setup, networking or other peripheral. The tool is there and just needs to be configured properly.

Failed devices that need replacing want the heal tech to have the stock in his car or have to make any trips to perfect the repair. heal shops will have a better stock of power supplies, hard drives, video cards, routers and other gear.

Maintenance and carrying out issues are an additional one matter and depend largely on the severity of the problem or infection. Though failing devices can inventory for carrying out issues, diagnosing the cause of the issue (hardware or software) can take some time.

Performance issues (without evidence of virus) can be addressed using Windows maintenance utilities - msconfig, regedit, disk cleanup, defrag, etc. And file cleanup. This can be done in an hour and is in fact done onsite.

If a virus is present and is affecting carrying out (they normally do), on-site heal may not be the best solution. If you're being expensed by the hour, this can be costly and, possibly, ineffective.

Most of today's virus infections use a rootkit to cloak their detection by antivirus scanners. Rootkits are a serious and growing problem and are difficult to detect.

Removal of a rootkit/virus infection requires a full wipe of the hard (after backing up the data) and re-installation of the operating ideas (usually Windows).

You'll need an experienced heal shop and one that knows how to diagnose rootkit infections.

Linksys E4200 Router

The Linksys E4200 Maximum doing Wireless-N Router lets you access the Internet via a wireless association or straight through one of its four-switched Gigabit Ethernet ports. With the built-in storage Link, you can actually add gigabytes of storage space onto your network using Usb 2.0 hard drives, or plug in a Usb flash disk to access your transportable data files. The E4200's built-in media server streams music, video and photos from an attached storage device to any UpnP-compatible media adapter or player.

Simultaneous dual-band Wireless-N
• Usb storage port with built-in media server
• Gigabit Ethernet ports for high-speed wired devices
• Cisco associate software for easy setup and maintenance

Wireless Printer Setup

How to setup Linksys E4200 router:
You can setup your router with the help of Cisco associate software that comes with the router, Make sure that you have active Internet association straight through the modem. associate the main computer directly to the modem and make sure that you can access the Internet straight through the modem.

Connect the modem to the Internet port and computer to Ethernet port on the router. Press and hold the reset button on the router for 30 seconds. Publish the reset button and wait for 30 seconds. Power cycle the router. Now run the Cisco associate software.

This software will setup your router automatically. It will generate 2 wireless networks. One for your main network and other one for the guest people. You can associate your own computers and devices to the main wireless network. The guest network can be used for the population who want to access the Internet only. Guest network is a virtual wireless network to access the Internet straight through your router. The computers associated to the guest network will be able to access the Internet only. These computers will not be able to access your main network and files and computers and printers in the main network.

You can manage guest network settings using the web interface of the router. So it is not necessary to install the Cisco associate software to manage guest network as it was the case in E1000, E2000 and E3000 wireless routers. In these routers the guest network can be created and managed only using the Cisco associate software. For E4200 router Linksys has included Guest network settings using web Ui of the router. The wireless association speed using E4200 will be 300+ mbps. All the ports on E4200 router are Gigabit ports.

If you have a Usb storage device then you can associate the Usb storage device to the router and share it within the network. Computers associated to the guest network will not be able to access the Usb storage device.

Event Photography - Debunking the Myths and Promoting a professional coming

There is a tasteless misconception that event photography is a soft option, something that can be done part-time to earn some easy extra cash on the side. The reality, of course, is very distinct and there is a great deal more to this sector than some might imagine, both in terms of the preparation that is required to deliver a potential corollary often under essential time pressure and also the venture required, both in time and money. Walk blind into this area at any level and you risk not only your own hereafter in the event business but also that of other photographers, who might lose jobs on the back of event organisers losing faith in the end product.

The purpose of this piece is not to discourage any photographer from seeing at the potential of event coverage but to give them an honest guide as to what is required to make a success of event photography. There are a number of distinct levels at which you can operate and the requirements are distinct for each of them, but it is potential to move into event photography in a fairly low key way and then build up your involvement if things are working out well. This in turn ensures that it's not essential to make a full commitment from day one if you want to take things more slowly.

Wireless Printer Setup

There are 3 things that you can do to prepare yourself for events;

You could join a reputable organisation such as the Event Photographer Society You could get training from professional event photographers Read this article
What you need

The first thing that any event photographer should have in place before walking out of their front door is insurance. It's crucial - and legally required - to safe yourself and your customers, and to make sure that you don't come to be a victim of the current litigious society you need to speak to an assurance master about the likes of collective Liability Insurance, tool cover and any other essentials.

The second thing you need to think about early on is a website to enable you to sell images after the event. This is by no means your only route to market but it's a crucial way to maximise your sales and to give your business visibility. However, in my plan the best way to sell is still to offer prints on the spot, because this will be the time when population are in the mood to buy a print and they will gift a relatively easy sell. It's also very clean and efficient, with sales being dealt with on the spot and nothing to corollary up, and the money you can take on the night is great for cash flow!

This takes you into the realm of small, transported dye-sub printers of procedure and there are some to choose from which is something that I covered when I wrote an article for Photo Pro in August 2009. In brief you need to make a buying decision based on speed, reliability and weight - don't just buy a stock based on its price tag - and it's worth request other professionals which kit they personally use and then basing a buying decision on which gear sounds best suited to your private requirements. I will write a added article on this soon as there are some verily nice new models that have appeared since then such as the Dnp Ds40 and Dnp Ds80.

One of your major considerations in terms of what kit you might need will be the area of event photography that you choose to go into. Commonly there are two avenues you can explore: collective events and sporting events, with some photographers, such as myself, working across both areas. Sporting events can be split down still added into outdoor and indoor locations, while collective covers any event that requires a studio setup.

Those seeing to work in collective event photography will commonly have distinct camera considerations, and they advantage from the fact that they don't need to opt for something which is top of the range. If you're commonly outside black tie events, for example, then you should be seeing to keep file sizes down to about 1.5Mb, and for this a good potential 6 megapixel camera will deliver what is required to enable printing on-site of 12x8ins images and bigger sizes from web sales. You can all the time buy a more suited camera of procedure and shoot at lower than optimum resolution, but this might not be your most cost-effective solution.

For sporting events you need to look at more specialised gear and here the most essential thing you will need to invest in will be good quality, fast lenses. The usual beginning point is going to be something like a 70-200mm f/2.8 to enable you to get the desired shutter speeds but also to have the wide apertures available to put the background out of focus. Other things to look at are camera hoods (rain jackets) to safe the camera from bad weather.

Many novices will try to use a burst of images to capture the peak of the action but in reality this means you are more likely to miss the shot that sells. It is prominent to understand the sport you are outside and be able to predict when and where to take the shot. Once you have mastered this you can start to understand when a burst of images may be needed, such as capturing a rider falling from their horse - yes they like those images as well! Most Dslrs these days come with a decent fps rate so this is a function you will probably have to hand.

On-Site

Working on location you encounter what might be the biggest cost of all: the need to have chamber for yourself and your team plus your printers and power to run everything. Essentially the cover issue can be solved in one of three ways; a marquee, a trailer fit or a van fit. The issue with a marquee is that all the tool has to be set up each time whereas as with the van or trailer it is a easy matter of connecting to the power and switching on.

The power issue can be tackled with batteries but this is not easy and the beloved selection is a generator. Care needs to taken to take one that has a garage voltage (there have been a number of instances where printers do not function correctly when used with generators) which commonly means seeing for a term like 'pure sine wave' or 'inverter technology'. There is a added complication that some event hosts will not let you on site with petrol generators, so a good selection is to look for an Lpg converted generator, with the generator of selection being a Honda Eu20i.

Moving indoors as a sports photographer you still need those fast lenses but now the low light levels come into corollary and it is here that many of the lower end cameras verily struggle. Imagine shooting an indoor equestrian event in November - you have mixed lighting and verily need to be able to perform shutter speeds of 1/640sec or faster. You are now seeing at having to up your Iso levels to 5000 or maybe higher, and this is a specialised area if you are still seeing for good, usable results. For me this meant the purchase of a Nikon D700; a big venture for sure, but it's prominent to buy once and to buy right, and I knew that was what I needed. The cost doesn't stop there, and the use of very fast f/1.4 and f/1.8 lenses can help you not just to get an image but also to focus in low light. Using a flashgun with many indoor events such as equestrian is liable to see you set upon by a group of pony club mums - best avoided at all costs.

Lighting

If you're working in the collective area you will probably need to invest in reliable lighting - you will never have two setups that are the same and will have to learn to work within the space available. Remember that what you are providing is a mobile studio setup, so you will need backgrounds and stands. As you are using electrical tool you will also need to make sure that you have this Pat tested (look at http://www.pat-testing.info/legal.htm for the legal requirements).

A good potential light meter will help you to get the light levels right, but one question you might not expect is the tendency for the lights to reflect back from walls and to potentially generate colour casts. In my plan it is essential to all the time carry out a practice white balance, and this is the second thing I do after adjusting the lights. Personally I use the Lastolite ezybalance and it takes 30 seconds to ensure someone else aspect of providing a potential image to the customer has been covered. A quick test shot at this stage should give you a clean image at the printer and you are ready to take on your first client.

Two prominent issues for the collective event photographer to think are how to trigger the lights and also how to physically get the image files from the camera over to the printer generating prints for sale. Both areas come with an selection to use cables, either to link the tool or to tether the camera, but in a busy situation you are then introducing trip hazards and it will also restrict where you can verily move with the camera. I do take cables with me on a job but they are kept in the box just in case of emergencies - as an event photographer you do need to be covered for every eventuality because as the event photographers' mantra goes 'the only image you can't sell is the one you don't take'.

In terms of studio flashes, an alternative way to fire them is via an infra-red light trigger, but these can be temperamental and you do need to be able to react to a situation if things go wrong. For example, at one Christmas event I encountered a novelty toy reindeer which was spinning around and bucking away with a big red flashing nose, and this was continually setting off the studio flash! Some Gaffa tape to cover the offending part did the trick but it gave me a few hairy moments. I now use a wireless law and it's proved very reliable and safe in operation.

Wireless Transfer

In terms of sending files back to base, you could swap cards on the camera and pass them back to the sales point but I do wonder what would happen if you took your camera to be repaired under warranty because the card pins were bent, and then had to clarify that it had just had some light use i.e. 100 card swaps a night for a hundred nights in the year. There are now viable alternatives as we enter the era of reliable and sufficient Wi-Fi along with Sd memory cards set up to be Wi-Fi enabled to bring the entry level price of this technology down to very manageable levels.

Puppy - A Very Small Linux Distribution - What I Found on the Desktop

Puppy Linux is a very small linux distribution available for free download. The size of the download image is just a exiguous over 100 megabytes. As a comparison, I think all of my windows computers load up at about 20 to 35 gigabytes. I was intrigued with the understanding of having a distribution that I could run on any computer just by carrying the Cd and a tiny zip drive for any files I needed.

My main requirement was that I be able to use this as a working computer. I was not concerned in just other geeky toy. I turned on my laptop, inserted the Cd, and waited to see what would happen. In a few seconds, the theory booted and I had a nice finding desktop with 17 icons in the upper left quadrant.

Wireless Printer Setup

file - A click here popped up all my directories similar to explorer.

help - A nice introduction to Puppy with links to specific subjects.

mount - A place to see all the mounted drives, the hard drive, usb zip, and the Cd.

install - A easy holder employer to install lots of additional packages. I was happy to see my popular mind map tool, vym or View Your Mind.

setup - Tools to configure, startup, keyboard, mouse, printer, etc.,etc

edit - A very light text editor, more than adequate for my uses.

console - A nice final for command line work, like Dos, but better.

write - Abiword, a nice word processor, not quite Word but similar to Ms Works.

calc - gnumeric, a good spreadsheet program

paint - A good image editor much like the one in windows accessories.

draw - Inkscape Lite, more than I expected, a nice vector drawing schedule with many of the capabilities of Illustrator.

browse - Sea Monkey Browser based on mozilla. All the startling goodies.

email - email with Sea Monkey

chat - join together to the puppy reserve channel with Irc

plan - A nice calendar for scheduling, contacts, notes, etc

play - gxine, a media player, audio and video

connect - The Internet association Wizard. Instant association to my netword and wireless was configured in a consolidate of minutes.

Very satisfactory. Three icons in the lower left let me click straight through to any of the files on my drive. Using the exiguous zip drive allowed me to save files and also saved all the configurations, passwords, bookmarks, etc. So they were all there on the next boot. A right click on the desktop brought up a menu of categories. Choosing the internet option, I was able to telnet and ftp into my server sites. Bit torrent and many other features were there.

If you're finding for a full featured operating theory that will run on just about any computer, along with a one I bought at a used computer store, give Puppy a walk nearby the block. Besides, it's fun.

What to Look For in a transportable Laptop Printer

If you want to buy a movable laptop printer, you can't just go buy the first one you see. movable laptop printers are made differently so you need to determined choose which one you need. Buying the newest model may offer you the newest features. However, it may turn out that the features they have are not beneficial to you. In this article, we will focus on what points to look at when you're looking to buy a movable laptop printer.

First, you need to know the current setup that you have. If you're buying a movable laptop printer, it has to go with what kind of laptop you have. We are not referring to the color although they may be arresting to look at when you're using them. The functional features are also leading to consider. Take for example their operating systems. The printer must be able to hold your current operating system. Most printers are basically plug and playable with popular operating systems such as Windows and Mac Os. However, for some, you will need added drivers. If you're not a technical man to begin with, you may find a hard time setting them up.

Wireless Printer Setup

Next, you need to know what your minimum requirements are. This means that you need to know where and how you will be using the printer. If you're planning on using them for printing photos, then you need to have one that has a higher resolution. If you're not sure what kind of resolution is enough, you should have a demo print before buying them and have the settings set to printing photos. Printing colored documents is distinct from printing photos since printing photos need more settling time for the ink to dry up. Aside from the print resolution, the printer should be able to control at a descent speed. movable printers should be able to print at speeds of 10 pages per minute, unless they're printing photos.

Aside from having the minimum requirements for the printing tasks that you will have, some movable laptop printers come with features that you may find to your advantage. Let's take for example wireless interface. Some models come with wireless interface. If your laptop has a Bluetooth highlight or if you currently have a cellular phone that use this kind of interface then the Bluetooth highlight is an added advantage on your part. There are printers that are capable of printing directly from other movable gadgets. Though, these features have no relation to the potential of prints it produces, it is one of the conveniences that some customers are willing to pay for.

You may have other guidelines or preferences when you're looking for a movable laptop printer, like the color or its design. Just be sure to know that you're buying them for the right reasons. You may start out wanting a movable printer but you may be sidetracked into buying a laptop printer that has a lot of features that you don't need.
